We are a small friendly group of people who love singing. No need to read music as everything is taught by ear. So why not come along and join us? First session free!
After many months without meeting and without rehearsals during the pandemic, we are now meeting, rehearsing and singing again! All are welcome back and an especially big welcome to any new members.
We start this autumn term on 21st September 2022 5.15-7pm. (See calendar for details) Cost: £8 per session or £80 for a twelve session term.
Quarternotes is an open access community choir based in the Northern Quarter of Manchester city centre. Many of its members, however, are not new to the UK singing community, having performed with other choirs previously at various events including the Street Choirs Festival and Sing for Water events in London and the North West.
Quarternotes has an open house policy and is recruiting new members now. See this flyer for more details:
The choir is an acapella performance choir with no auditions, no requirement to read music and with all songs being taught by ear by our MD (Musical Director), NVN (Natural Voice Network) member Anita Ward. Members of the choir also participate in Sing for Water North, held each June and Sing for Water London in September. The former event has raised almost £30,000 for Water Aid and the latter, since its establishment, has raised £1 million.
Examples of our Choir at work can be seen in the video recording below.
We rehearse every Wednesday evening, 5.15pm to 7.00pm; our rehearsal room is located in Methodist Central Hall on Oldham St in central Manchester. Please check out the calendar for forthcoming sessions and holiday breaks.
Sing for Water, london 2019
A beautiful, fund raising event in the September sunshine. Some members of choir members enjoying the singing and the post-event sunshine.
A thank you from the John Rylands Library
It was an absolute pleasure to meet you all and hear you sing. We all enjoyed it so much and the audience did too! We’ll be popping some things on social media so have a look on The John Rylands Instagram page.
Singing works so well in the Library and it’s such an uplifting activity that I’m sure you’ll be back here so I’ll stay in touch.
